The Lord Chief Justice, Lord Judge, has warned that jurors using the Twitter service in court and conducting internet research on cases at home are threatening the future of trial by jury. He stated that if trial by jury was to survive, then the use of the internet by jurors "must stop" and the possibility of treating breaches as a contempt of court considered.
